What is healing art???

Therapeutic art is NOT art therapy.

Healing art is a therapeutic art practice that facilitates creative expression and provides a gentle release through the use of art. The nature of my healing art sessions facilitates creative expression allowing you to guide yourself in your discovery, exploration, and interpretation. Healing art does not interpret or diagnose, but instead supports and empowers you to find your answers through creative expression. Healing art should not be an alternative to seeking therapy.

I offer a few different healing art sessions. I provide grief sessions that honor the tender space that grief takes us through ritual, ceremony, Reiki healing, writing, and art. Each of the sessions I offer focuses on creative expression and play while you are emotionally processing. This is not about creating a masterpiece but instead showing up for yourself creatively through playful painting and the act of release. Although grief healing art sessions are my primary focus, healing art sessions can be applied to anything you need to face emotionally or to release stress. Art can reach across unspeakable boundaries and break barriers. Art can provide an opening for self-discovery and explore the breadth of our inner selves through creative expression. There’s a magic that happens through creative expression that can connect, empower, and support each of us while we’re dealing with unspeakable trauma and situations such as domestic violence, addiction, emotions causing heaviness in your spirit and body, loss of self, rediscovering self, etc. Healing art sessions can be adapted to anything you need in the present moment. Again, this is NOT art therapy. Art therapy is a specialized field of practice done by a licensed therapist. This practice should not replace or be done in place of therapy.
